Portrait were a five-piece screamo band from Atlanta, Georgia that were around from 1996 to 2001. Following a number of EPs, their full discography was posthumously compiled by Stickfigure Records in 2004. They cite their influences are Inkwell, Frail and Indian Summer, which is a pretty good summation of where they sit sonically on the screamo spectrum. They blend the discordant with the tragically melodic, creating chaos that often yields to moments of serene melancholic clarity. Vocally, they're screeched and devastating, exactly what'd you want out of a screamo band on the brink of collapse. Thy even incorporate a viola on occassion, adding another unique dynamic to the mix. Overall, this is highly recommended for fans of bands such as Saetia (to add another name to the list). Enjoy.
