Kismet

Band submission. Kismet are a four-piece acoustic indie folk band from Boston, Massachusetts. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this, since it's a style of music that I love, but don't really do any posts on. So a big thank you to them for sending this to me. Though this band is certainly guitar-based, they incorporate cello and upright bass into each song, which sounds amazing. The vocals are excellent, as well. They're usually harmonized between a guy and a girl, which sound quite pleasing together. They sing softly and gently, and both have naturally great tones to their voice. I don't know what else I can say besides I love it. The guitar does a really good job at balancing the use of both fingerpicking and strumming full chords, and even throws in some almost abrasive slide playing on "Spring". The upright bass and cello sound perfect, as expected, but they also know exactly what to play and when to come. It doesn't come off as being plainly structured and obvious, though. Rather, it compliments the song and builds it up to include other dynamics. I know I'm just rambling now. The point is, CHECK THIS OUT.

Power Trip

Power Trip are a five-piece hardcore/thrash metal crossover band from Dallas, Texas that have been killing it since 2008. These guys fucking rip, playing intense, crushing, pummeling, chugging, aggressive music. If you want your ears to bleed, face to melt, and head to explode, you're looking in the right place. They cite their influences being Motörhead, Sepultra, Cro-Mags, Nuclear Assault, Bad Brains, Discharge, Exodus, Anti-Cimex, Venom, Vio-lence, Possessed, and Devastation (TX), which should give you a good indication of how badass these guys are. Enjoy.

Lord Snow

Lord Snow are a screamo/emo violence band from Chicago, Illinois that began in August 2011. Some members used to be in Suffix and Lautrec, among others. They play a style of chaotic, disjointed, ear-piercing, female-fronted screamo that I'm really into. This band are probably one of my personal favourite new bands in this genre, so definitely get into it if you haven't already. Also, check out some of their live stuff on Youtube or whatever, it's really sick. I guess there isn't much else to say. Enjoy.

Lemon Demon

Lemon Demon are a five-piece rock band from Kingston, Massachusetts that started in 2003. Most of all the recorded tracks are only front man Neil Cicierega (who is also the creator of Potter Puppet Pals), but on live acts and certain recordings, he is accompanied by guitarists Charles "Chooch" Sergio and Dave Kitsberg, bassist Alora Lazilotta. and drummer Gregory Lazilotta, while Neil does keyboards and vocals. Lemon Demon has a very interesting sound and style that changes with just about every album. I'd give some bands that are similar, but when they develop a new sound with every recording, it's hard to give you some similar artists. They've always had a very electronic/alternative sound, so I guess if you're into alternative, indie, electronic, rock, and the like, then Lemon Demon may be a band for you.
They gained a huge amount of recognition with the release of their song The Ultimate Showdown Of Ultimate Destiny (from the album Dinosaurchestra). They then received even more with the release of BRODYQUEST. Other than those songs and some other fairly popular ones (Geeks In Love, 123456 Pokemon, Word Disassociation, I've Got Some Falling To Do, etc.), Lemon Demon doesn't get as recognized as they should (in my opinion).
They've been one of my favorite bands since fourth grade, and while many people fail to appreciate their work as much as I do, there's still a select few out there who love them too. Hopefully, some of you will be among the few.

Kinda pulling this outta my ass, but:
FFO: I Fight Dragons, Yip Deceiver, Anamanaguchi, The Brood Needs Food, They Might Be Giants, The Flaming Lips, CAKE, Hello Ninja, The Front Bottoms, etc.

I recommend you get anything everything from Hip To The Javabean  to I Am Become Christmas EP. The first two albums weren't too great (although I do like some songs on LftHCS), and the last two singles were joke-y songs.

Beau Navire

Beau Navire are a four-piece screamo band from Oakland, California that started in 2009. The band contains former members of the legendary iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook as well as Spectres,   and shares members with the monster known as Loma Prieta. Beau Navire are like the amalgamation of every screamo band to ever exist, seaminglessly blending tons of various styles and sounds into their mix of awesome, intense passion. Seriously, this band is probably one of the most essential modern screamo/skramz/whatever bands around now. Enjoy.

Warren Of Ohms

Band submission. Warren of Ohms is a screamo band from Arizona that mainly consists of one member, Sammy Gurule. The debut EP was released quite recently, and features some impressive technical guitar work similar to that of Hot Cross, and some sinister, hoarse vocals which stylistically shift quite a bit, but sound great all around. The EP is quite consistent in terms of sound, though the last two songs (especially the last one) do get quite experimental with other ideas, and it certainly works for the better. Check this stuff out if you're into the bands mentioned below, this is quite good, and I'm definitely enjoying it.

Algernon Cadwallader

Algernon Cadwallader were a three-piece emo/indie/math rock/punk band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They began in 2005 and broke up in 2012, unfortunately. I was actually able to catch them live about a week before they broke up, which makes me quite happy (I also got to hear how their damn name is properly pronounced). These guys are one of the best known "emo revival" bands or whatever you want to call it, and rightfully so (Algernon and Snowing are probably the two that seem to be brought up the most). They also operated on a very DIY basis, booking their own shows and whatnot. They even went as far as collectively owning their own label (Hot Green Records), though they did work with other labels.

They take a TON of influence from Cap'n Jazz. I mean you could possibly mistaken the two for each other, especially the vocals. Holy shit, he sounds like Tim sometimes, which is good thing, obviously. However, the guitar work is more reminiscent of American Football, but played with the upbeat styling of Cap'n Jazz. I suppose there's also a dose of Mineral in the entire band, just for good measure. So yeah, these guys are an awesome band that will certainly be getting a ton of listens since it's the summer now, and they're pretty much the perfect summer band. Enjoy.
