Lincoln

Lincoln were a four-piece emo/hardcore band from Morgantown, West Viriginia that were around from 1992 to 1993. Despite their brief tenure and miniscule output, Lincoln have established themselves as one of the most formidable acts to come out in the early 90's, pushing the envelope that began with Revolution Summer-era DC bands into darker, heavier, and more complex territory. From their very first EP, the band displayed inklings of boundary-shifting hardcore, with tons of syncopation, discordant riffs, a sense of melody that's neither sweet nor ugly, along with screamed and sometimes dual vocals. By the time of their post-humous two-song release, they had mellowed out a bit and really encroached on "emo" territory. For years, they were best known for their fantastic split with the now-legendary Hoover, with both bands contributing one of their finest songs. Their debut EP and 7" are just as essential to their discograpy (particularly the EP), though perhaps not as widely known without the Hoover affiliation. Post-Lincoln, its members did regroup again in 1995 under the name Enderhall to record an 8-song demo on a 4-track, which I've also included below. It's cool to have for posterity's sake, and s.

Fast forward to 2022, and this band is finally getting its full due and legacy cemented, courtesy of Temporary Residence Ltd. Repair and Reward came out earlier this month, and contains the band's full discography plus one unreleased song, all restored and newly mixed by producer J. Robbins. It's incredible to hear these songs in such good quality and available on a physical format. It's always great for there to be an alternate avenue to discovering a band like this somewhere other than the outskirts of the internet. Enjoy.

Rozwell Kid

Rozwell Kid are a four-piece alternative/punk band from West Virginia that formed in 2011. They started as a side solo project for Jordan Hudkins, who played drums at the time in a band called Demon Beat. Over the next few years, a few solid members joined him, and we now have a full-fledged Rozwell Kid. They're signed to Broken World Media, which is kind of obvious due to all their associations with bands like The World Is A Beautiful Place... and Old Gray. However, they don't really sound like those bands. Imagine if you took the fun catchiness of Weezer and mixed it with the loud, heavy guitars and distorted bass of Dinosaur Jr. This hybrid can go by the name "Rozwell Kid". The songs have great melodies, fun lyrics, and that same pop sensibility that early Weezer had. But they really crank up the distortion in their songs, just like any one of your favourtie 90's "grunge" band. This silly/serious dynamic makes for one hell of a good band, that can make you laugh, sing, and mosh. What more could you want? Enjoy.

Single Dads

So this is a band request, but I am really, really enjoying this. I highly recommend you check it out,  this band is great. Unfortunately, they went on hiatus last month. But still, good band.

"Single Dads is a math rock turned emo revival(ish) band fronted by songwriter Aaron Dawson. This three piece from Morgantown, WV formed in 2010. Its influences include Braid, Tigers Jaw and The Dismemberment Plan. Includes members from Its BirdsRussian Tombstones, and Koko Sing (all WV ensembles) [If I, Kevin, may briefly interject, I quickly checked them all out. They all sounded good, I'll definitely be revisiting them when I can. Koko Sing, in particular. But enough about that, the focus is on the awesome band Single Dads here. Though it appears that I wrote just as much about the affiliated projects than the band did about themselves]".
