Good Sleepy

Good Sleepy are a three-piece indie/emo band from Worcester, Massachusetts that have been around since 2018. They play that old-time midwest emo in the heart of twinkle city, with plenty of jangly guitar noodling, shouted vocals, and lyrics struggling to see the bright side of life. Fans of bands such as Marietta, Algernon Cadwallader, American Football, and Grown Ups will dig this. They've put out both an LP, split, and EP this year, all of which I highly suggest checking out. The Hotelier

The Hotelier (formerly The Hotel Year) are a four-piece emo/indie/punk band from Worcester, Massachusetts that began in 2009. They released two-full lengths under their old name, before changing it before the release of the seminal Home, Like NoPlace Is There. They've developed very quickly, and draw influence from so many different sources that it's difficult to tack them down. The blanket terms "emo" or "punk" are pretty accurate, but still don't indulge in the fine details and mixture that is The Hotelier. They sound as if The Weakerthans, Jimmy Eat World, Against Me!, Latterman and Brand New were all thrown together to create this hybrid that sounds unlike any other. Their songs are incredibly catchy, but lyrically detailed and honest, with a passionate delivery just begging to be yelled along to. Their guitar work has progressed from the chunk of pop punk to the clean and jangly sound of indie rock, with a touch of You Blew It! and friends in it. A particular thing about this band is how much replay value they have. No matter how many times I've listened to their last album, it's continuously entertaining and emotionally hard-hitting, with new guitar melodies or lyrics sticking out every time. In my opinion, it's one of the best albums released this year, and their older material, particularly It Never Goes Out, is also some amazing stuff. The Hotelier get requested constantly, so enjoy!

Four Year Strong

Four Year Strong are a four-piece (formerly five) pop punk/melodic hardcore band from Worcester, Massachusetts in 2001. Since then, they've become one of the most well-known pop punk bands of the past decade, and have toured with pretty much every band ever as well. They began quite young, since their band name is derived from their friendship in high school (they lasted for four years, strong). The term "easycore" is often used to describe them, meaning that they mix in heavier, hardcore-influenced breakdowns, and mosh-worthy double bass drum with the typical catchiness of pop punk. They also feature quite a lot of synth and keyboard parts, though they have slightly abandoned that in recent years. They write some insanely catchy songs, which are perfectly executed by the band's dual vocalists. A particular thing to note about this band is how their sound is constantly shifting from album to album, which is rare for a band in this genre to constantly try new things, but something definitely commendable to do. I'm sure most people reading this have heard of Four Year Strong, especially since they get a ton of requests and are so well-known. Below is all of their full-lengths, their cover album, EP's, demos and such. Obviously all their material is worth checking out, but I'd especially encourage you to listen to their early demos, since they are unexpectedly good.
