CSTVT

CSTVT (formerly Castevet) were an emo/indie band from Chicago, Illinois that formed in 2008 and broke up in 2013. It's a damn shame I've skipped out on posting this band for so long, because they are absolute essentials for any fan of modern Cap'n Jazz worshippers. Along with other bands like Snowing, Grown Ups, Prawn, Algernon Cadwallader, My Heart To Joy, Joie De Vivre, you know how long the list goes, CSTVT are an incredible band who have perfected their energetic brand of twinkly emo. They expertly craft songs that are both catchy and complex, with some gruff vocals thrown into the mix. CSTVT are definitely an essential "emo revival" or whatever you want to call it band, and one of the first few that I really got in to, so if you haven't snagged their discography yet, I highly suggest doing so. Enjoy.

Somos

Somos are a four-piece emo/punk band from Boston, Massachusetts that formed in 2012. Their debut full-length, Temple Of Plenty, came out in 2014, and has immediately garnered a lot of attention. In the grand scheme of modern emo revival, there are always a few standouts that are above the average twinklefests that drop so constantly. Somos are one of these standouts, immediately making a splash in a scene where bands like You Blew It! and The Hotelier are already king. Their sound brings in elements of post-hardcore, post-rock, and indie to create a unique blend to their contemporary emo sound. Their songs are catchy and melodic, with some great lyrics to back them up. Their guitar work is varied, while the entire bands creates a driving force that give these songs such an energy. Thanks to Jacob Shumaker for the help with this post, and enjoy.

Dikembe

Dikembe are a four-piece emo/indie band from Gainesville, Florida, that formed in 2011. They are currently signed to Tiny Engines Records. Dikembe, along with bands such as You Blew It! and Dowsing, are part of a group of bands part of the recent "emo revival" movement, in which modern bands take major influence from the great emo/indie bands of the 90's, such as Braid, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Promise Ring, etc. Dikembe are an amazing band that are equally catchy and upbeat, as well as slower and melancholic. Plus they come with all the staples of a modern "emo" band, including inside jokes for songs and titles. Enjoy.

State Lines

State Lines are a young four-piece pop punk band from Long Island, New York who formed in late 2010. They've got super catchy Tigers Jaw-esque vocal harmonies, awesome melodies, solid bass and drums, and plenty of 90's emo inspired guitar parts. They're just a great band, what more needs to be said? They put out a full-length last year and recently released an EP with Tiny Engines. Definitely check them out, they'll (hopefully) be making some fantastic music for a while.
