Feels Like Heaven

Feels Like Heaven are a five-piece melodic hardcore band from Stockholm, Sweden that was formed in 2022 by three members of Speedway. Their debut album Within Dreams came out on January 1st, 2026, and it is one hell of a way to kick off a year. The album features these bright, crisp guitars that intertwine between shimmering arpeggios, octave-based riffs, and full major 7th chords, giving them a melodic edge atop pounding drums reminiscent of Title Fight or Basement, hints of More Than Life, while other moments harken back to the angular, confessional intimacy of Embrace or Rites of Spring, with vocals that ride the line between gruff and airy. It's a brisk listen, between 10 songs not one of them hit the full three-minute mark, so it's well worth your time to give this a listen (the run during the first half is especially impeccable). Enjoy.

Disembarked

Disembarked are a five-piece screamo/hardcore band from Stockholm, Sweden that formed in 2011. They play a painstakingly emotional style of hardcore that incorporates elements of post-rock sounds and vocals on the brink of breaking. Their sound will appeal to fans of bands such as Pianos Become The Teeth, Touché Amoré, State Faults, More Than Life, and Envy. Their last release was their sole full-length, which was put out by Dog Knights Production in 2014. Though the band is still technically together, they have not been active in quite some time. Hopefully some new material will surface in the future, but until then, their current discography is just as killer. Enjoy.

Heart On My Sleeve

Heart On My Sleeve are a five-piece screamo band from Stockholm, Sweden that have been around since 2010. They were formed by former members of another fantastic band, The Hope And The Failure. Heart On My Sleeve play emotionally impassioned music that features some tortured vocals and heavy post-rock influence in the instrumentals. In particular, their last LP In The Midst of Hope and Nothingness is definitely recommended, both for its concept and incredible music. This is definitely recommended for fans of more melodic screamo. Enjoy.

Nihilist

Nihilist were a five-piece death metal band from Stockholm, Sweden that were around from 1987 to 1989. Nihilist are perhaps best known as being the band that would eventually change their name and become known as the legendary Entombed. However, in the first few years of their existence, up until Entombed's debut Left Hand Path, most of these guys recorded a handful of demos and one 7" under the moniker Nihilist. Though the production here isn't near as sharp as it would later become, the band's roots definitely show through. For one, their recordings are usually the ones used to pinpoint the origins of the "buzzsaw" guitar tone. A ton of hardcore and metal bands have come to make this distinct sound, or as I like to call it, HM-2-core. The influence this band and their counterpart had is clearly apparent here. Not to mention the music here is pretty decent, keeping in mind that these are just demos from a band just getting its start. Enjoy.

The Hope And The Failure

In keeping up with the last few posts of bands that are long overdue for posts, here's The Hope And The Failure. They were a four-piece screamo/hardcore/post-rock band from Stockholm, Sweden that released one album, which was 2005's The Lights Are On But This Dance Never Ends. Though comparisons could be made to bands like Envy and City Of Caterpillar, The Hope And The Failure really establish their own ground throughout these six songs. For one, the dynamics build and crash, making for a gruelling catharsis, featuring quiet, spoken-word sections that build and explode into explosive climaxes. Vocalist Ina really holds her own throughout both, being able to quietly whisper the spoken sections atop some gorgeous guitar melodies, and harshly scream against the walls of distortion. The band is brimming with passion, which is very audible, and makes for an emotional half hour of listening. Their last.fm has a pretty thorough bio on them, so check that out too. Enjoy.

Sore Eyelids

Sore Eyelids are a three-piece indie/punk/shoegaze band from Stockholm, Sweden. The band is known for sharing members with Suis La Lune, though their sounds are quite different. The beautifully melodic guitar tone is still present, though with a heavy shoegaze influence. There's a ton of reverb and distortion to create mass walls of sound, which is kind of a hybrid of punk and shoegaze. The energy of these songs is high, with each dripping in emotional catharsis courtesy of some pounding drums and frantic guitars with constant whammy dives. These are entwined with some quieter, melancholic parts, which seem to come in as fast as they go out. Each song is a frenzy of motion, spastically switching from one part to another, making for a gripping listen. The vocals are also sung in a deeper voice, and tend to stay low in the mix, droning with sorrow. This is band to check out if you're into the classics, such as My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Dinosaur Jr., The Pine (who they take their name from), etc., or modern bands like Suis La Lune, Pity Sex, Cloakroom. Enjoy.
