O'Brother

Thanks to Patrick for the request.

O'Brother are a five-piece band from Atlanta, Georgia that formed in 2006. They blend elements of alternative/indie/post-rock/progressive/post-hardcore together to create music that is distinctly theirs. They can go from being dark and heavy, playing chunky down-tuned riffs to light and melodic, creating an ambient and gentle soundscape. The musicianship is absolutely fantastic, since the entire band contributes many parts to each song that make seem layered and in-depth, keeping each song interesting and unique. Vocally, they switch it up a lot. At times there's a kind of Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle) vibe going on, or during gruffer parts a hint of Dustin Kensrue (Thrice) shows up, and at other times there is this falsetto/vibrato thing going on that's really hard to compare anything to. Basically, this band has a ton of amazing things going on with them. They go big with their music, and it pays off. They're also a mind-blowing live band, so don't pass up the chance to see them if you can. Enjoy.
