Floorpunch are a four-piece hardcore/punk band from New Jersey that began in 1995. This is quintessential listening for fans of the straight edge/youth crew movement in hardcore circa the mid 90's. With one demo, one EP, and one LP, the band solidified their legacy for over two decades to come. Below is the majority of their recorded material, so grab it ASAP. I didn't include the popular Twin Killing compilation, as it just includes the Goal Line Stand demo and Division One Champs, both of which are already included here. Enjoy.

No Justice

No Justice were a four-piece hardcore punk band from Washington, DC that were around from 1999 to 2000. During this time, they only released one 7", and it was near the latter end of their short-lived career. They are perhaps best known for their insane live shows, which a quick YouTube search will reveal just how crazy and reckless these shows (and particularly their lead singer) could get. I definitely suggest checking those out, but for now we have a surprisingly solid EP of youth crew-inspired hardcore. Some members also later played in 86 Mentality. Enjoy.

Carry On

Carry On were a five-piece straight edge hardcore band from Atascadero, California that formed in 1996 and broke up in 2005. They released three EP's (two of which were later included in a single compilation) and one LP, which was one of Bridge 9's earliest releases. A Life Less Plagued is an undisputed classic, and still holds up today as one of the most notable hardcore releases since the turn of the century. They played an incredibly fast and aggressive style of hardcore similar to bands such as contemporaries American Nightmare, No Warning and In My Eyes, with a ton of Youth Crew influence from bands like Floorpunch and Chain Of Strength. Another notable thing about them is one of their guitarists, Todd Jones, who has since been active in a  ton of other incredible bands, particularly Nails, Terror, Betrayed, and Internal Affairs. Their drummer Nick Jett has also been in Terror since they started. Enjoy.

Ten Yard Fight

Ten Yard Fight were a five-piece hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts that formed in 1995 and broke up in 1999. Along with other Boston bands such as In My Eyes, they were a major factor in the revitalization of youth crew and straight edge in their era. Additionally, Ten Yard Fight were known for their football influence (the American kind, sport not band). They would occasionally play shows decked out in football gear, and some lyrics touched upon the sport. For the most part though, what they are remembered for is their passion and energy, which exploded in a relatively short of span, and across a handful of solid releases.

Here's an early Christmas present, the long-awaited Youth Of Today!

Youth Of Today are a four-piece hardcore punk band from Danbury, Connecticut that were originally around from 1985 to 1990. Despite being from Connecticut, their impact was really felt in New York. Without a doubt, they're easily one of the most important and influential bands in hardcore history. They were integral in the original Youth Crew scene, as well as furthering straight edge to incorporate vegetarianism. They only released material in their original five-year run together, which included putting out classics like Break Down The Walls and We're Not In This Alone, which are both monumental records in hardcore punk.

In addition to the obvious influence Youth Of Today had, their members were also active in a ton of other burgeoning punk bands at the time, including Gorilla Biscuits, Side By Side, Project X, Judge, Shelter, CIV, and Quicksand, to name just a few. Youth Of Today have reunited numerous times since their original run. Like I said before, their only recorded material is from their first five years, though they still ended up being fairly active over the next few decades through tours and festivals and such. The first two reunions were one-off shows in 1994 and 1999, then a European tour in 2003. Since 2010, they've played shows fairly frequently each year, mostly making festival appearances. This year particularly, their classic line-up that recorded We're Not In This Alone has reunited. Enjoy.

In My Eyes

In My Eyes were a five-piece straight edge hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts that was around from 1997-2000. They take obvious influence from early 80's DC hardcore bands, especially since they derive their name from a Minor Threat song and do a cover of a song by The Faith. In My Eyes were major in late 90's hardcore, youth crew, and straight edge scenes. Along with bands such as Ten Yard Fight and Reach The Sky, they were kind of like the second coming of bands like Youth of Today and Gorilla Biscuits that dominated a decade before. In My Eyes and co. were also seminal influences for some of the 2000's best hardcore punk, such as Have Heart. Both of their albums are essential, so check it out and enjoy.

Project X

First off, this has nothing to do with the movie. In fact, this is pretty much the polar opposite of the movie. Project X were a four-piece straight edge hardcore band from New York City. They were there and then gone in 1987. They are probably best known for sharing members with seminal hardcore/youth crew bands Youth Of Today, Gorilla Biscuits, and Side By Side. Some of their members would even go on to be members of Quicksand, CIV, and Glassjaw. However, at this point in time, they were still playing fast, angry, hardcore punk. They played as few as 5 shows in their time, and only released one 7" (which was recorded with Don Fury). Their sole EP has since been re-released by Bridge Nine Records in 2005. As far as 80's hardcore goes, Project X are an incredibly solid band. It may be nothing groundbreaking, but I personally love their EP. They plow through 5 songs with fury, and that's exactly how it should be. Definitely check this out if Youth Of Today and Gorilla Biscuits are your idols, this is like the long-lost child of the two.
