Strange Joy are a five-piece hardcore band from Houston, Texas that began in 2021. Following a single, their debut EP came out earlier this year. The aptly titled
5 Tracks wastes no time introducing you to the band's aggressive-yet-melodic approach to hardcore, with huge distorted, reverberated guitars swirling over each straight-to-the-point pit-ready frenzy. They let up on the last track, "Black Hole Love" with a more melodic vocal approach, recalling bands such as Basement or Drug Church, while the rest may appeal to fans of boundary-pushing hardcore such as Fucked Up. Enjoy.
