Transit are a five-piece pop punk/emo band from Boston, Massachusetts that formed in 2006. They've been one of the most prominent and noteworthy bands in modern pop punk, and for good reason. Transit consistently knock out great songs that are infectiously catchy, but still personal and relatable. As their sound developed, they began to incorporate a strong influence from bands such as American Football, most notably with the guitar work. They're currently signed to Rise Records, though they have worked with Run For Cover and Mightier Than Sword in the past, among others. Transit are a great band, I don't know what else to say. Make Do And Mend

Make Do And Mend are a four-piece post-hardcore/punk band from West Hartford, Connecticut, though are currently based in Boston, Massachusetts. They formed in 2006, and have been kicking ass ever since. They're best characterised by their blend of gruffness and melody. Vocalist James Carroll often sings in a harsh, strained voice (though he does incorporate a softer sound for softer parts), but the vocal melodies are often quite catchy and melodic, which makes for a pleasant dynamic. The guitars also follow this pattern. Though there are certainly exclusively gentle parts, most songs are full of thick rhythm chords carrying the bottom end while soaring, melodic, lead lines fill in the top end. I suppose you can see why they're often compared to Hot Water Music now, eh? Regardless of that, they've got a great thing going on of their own. They're pretty consistent with their songwriting, since they seem to continuously pump out great jams. I guess I don't need to say much else, a lot of you probably know them anyway. Though if you are starting out with them, Bodies Of Water and End Measured Mile are probably their two greatest works, or at least I think so.

A Loss For Words

A Loss For Words are a pop punk band from Abington, Massachusetts that formed in 2000. Their early career was very focused on their DIY ethics, and I guess they didn't really focus on the band full-time either. I'm not entirely sure what went on in their early history, to be honest. But, they eventually did start putting out records and touring very consistently, and they've been at it for quite a few years now.

These guys have got a great sound. When I first heard them, they sounded like a mix of Alexisonfire (particuarly with the guitar work), Thursday (with the vocals mainly), and Comeback Kid (as an overall thing), with hints of Braid or something in there. I don't know. They're certainly a pop punk first and foremost, but also throw in elements of both post-hardcore and melodic hardcore. The band's influence citations is probably a more accurate list of where they're coming from, which would include The Movielife, The Get Up Kids, New Found Glory, and Saves The Day. I really like this band, especially for the great guitar work that is constantly demonstrated in every song, and the vocals, which always have great, catchy melodies with harmonies that make every line worth a sing-a-long. The bass and drums are also super tight and lay a solid foundation for the rest of the band to build on.

Man Overboard

Man Overboard is a pop punk band from New Jersey that started in 2008. They take influence from bands such as Saves The Day, Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Strike Anywhere, Weezer, Strike Anywhere, Hey Mercedes, Fairweather, The Promise Ring, and blink-182. So basically a bunch of pop punk/emo/alternative bands.  They're bursting with energy, catchy melodies, and make great use of their two singers. They put out a ton of stuff, but Real Talk will probably always be my personal favourite. I'm more into their earlier stuff, though their more recent stuff is definitely awesome as well. They just put out a new album in time for the summer, so I'll probably end up bumping that quite a bit. I think that they're one of those bands that make you feel like you're in high school forever, I don't know if anybody else kind of gets that vibe. I guess they don't really need much of an introduction, so enjoy.
