Young And In The Way

Do you ever listen to a band and physically feel the music being played? If having your body feel thrashed about is your thing, Young And In The Way are the band to check out. Whether it's a slow, grinding, teeth-clenching pace, or dark, abrasive, gut-punching assaults, these guys know how to knock you the fuck out with a dead, cold blow.  Young And In The Way are a four-piece band heralding from Charlotte, North Carolina, though they sound like they were raised in a freezing, lifeless Scandinavian forest. They are often described as mixing crust punk and black metal, both of which are very evident, though can ultimately be called a hardcore band. They have been active since 2009, and have put out a slew of releases since then. They've worked with A839 among others, and are releasing their second full-length on Deathwish this year. Also, I'm missing their split with Moral Void, so if anyone has that, please send it to me.These guys are a great young band who have a lot going for them, so definitely get into this. Enjoy.

Anomie

Anomie were a four-piece screamo/post-hardcore from France that existed from 1994-1997. They formed from a previous band called Escape. Anomie were noted for their female/male vocal dynamics, as well as their drummer being 13 at the time he joined. They pioneered the sound that French screamo bands would later hone in the 2000's, such as Amanda Woodward, Sed Non Satiata, Daïtro, Mihai Edrisch, etc. After the dissolution of Anomie, members formed numerous other bands including Anna O, whose unreleased demo I also included, since it sounds strikingly similar to Anomie's work. Check out the video below, it's some incredibly powerful stuff, and is what first got me into them. Enjoy.

Oathbreaker

Oathbreaker are a hardcore/black metal band from Ghent, Belgium that formed in 2008. Since then, they've released two full-lengths and an EP of epic, intense, and dynamic music of vigorously aggressive soundscapes. Pounding drums and blast beats, assaultive guitar riffs and tremolo picks, crushing, distorted bass, uncontrollably possessed vocals? Indeed. This band is an essential for anyone into modern hardcore, especially the darker, more metallic stuff. They put out a split with Amenra which I can't find, but the song that appears on it, "Agartha", is also on Eros|Anteros. Oathbreaker are definitely a band to check out, their stuff is super heavy but technically proficient and consistently fresh with different ideas. They are definitely one of the best bands currently on Deathwish. Enjoy.
